#265223, "Thanks for the explanation...Now solutions??"

Jeff,

Since I posted the original question I appreciate the explanation. Let's not beat the dead horse of maui anymore, however, yanking the id's of people who have been valuable contributors to this board is not the answer if you want to keep a good board and are open to the idea of some improvements.

I know what has been expressed to me and what I agree are some progressive changes that can add value to the board - to sum them up:

Less drama - meaning people who only post drama and ntr posts to be put somewhere else so the forum remains drama free. You know what I mean by this.

Honesty - I think you've heard from many people that not allowing honest yet sometimes painful posts to remain is frustrating and makes us wonder why we post. Sometimes ooey-gooey support filled posts are not what is most helpful, I for one am a living testament to receiving honest feedback without getting all worked up. I appreciated the honesty and changed my attitude re: the situation I was dealing with.

Moderation - by that I mean when you have someone moderate...do simply that- moderate. Don't take the approach of "oh no...someone has a different opinion so the post is outta there"

The board could use some improvement, I hope you are open to these suggestions and any others that might be added.

Like people have said time and again. Set up places where the same questions asked 5 times in a day can get answered! Set up places where like aged people can go and compare notes. Maybe set up a mentoring program where older can advice the younger. It all gets lost on here. The search is too hard to figure out and use, so the same questions get asked over and over again...

Just my two cents. I'll go tend to my triplets now...

Setting up different boards for new members, preg. moms, etc. has been suggested more than once. Unless you are a certain select few around here you dont mean squat.

For me its hard to answer a preg. or sleeping, feeding schedule question. My kids are 7 years old. I do not remember what our exact schedule was, I do not remember the specific details that these new moms need. I have it all recorded in a huge notebook. Heck I really dont remember alot about potty training.

I think that if we had seperate forums like we do now, just labeled differently things would run a bit more smoothly.

But heck what do I know, im just a mom of 7 year old triplets. Us veteran members are chopped liver around here.

How about this solution?

Shut down this forum either permanently or on a long-term temporary basis?

I have been with TC since I was about 7 weeks pregnant! That is over 10 years! I credit this organization for the healthy outcome of my children and my sanity. Jeff and Janet have put years and years of their personal time and heart and soul into this organization. Does anyone even fathom the dedication they have to TC?????

I find this all extremely disrespectful to Jeff, Janet and their family and terribly non-productive to the intentions of this organization and would not blame them ONE bit if they were to shut down this forum.

I am sure that the last thing they would want to do is shut it down! There are so many expecting parents, new parents and vet parents that ream the benefits of this site every minute of the day! It would be a shame if that support ended due to the trash that has been dished on this forum lately.

Really, GROW UP people!

Shut down TC? Hmm not sure where that came from, however im sure that wont happen.

There have been many many wars here over the years. Im sure this one is not going to cause them to shut this site down.

I totally agree with you Gina! Finally someone says it out loud!! I don't know why people can't understand that this is a chat room. To post questions, get ideas, get SOME support. This board is not a replacement for real life and real human contact and actual friends and family you can see, touch etc. Let the emotions go. Who really cares if someone is sick enough to get on here and pretend to be a triplet mom. That is why I don't get too personal. Honestly we warn our kids all of the time not to believe what they read on the internet chat rooms... why in the world can't we take the same advice??? Why do we feel the need to be ugly, hateful people and threaten violence. Aren't we all adults? Shouldn't we be aware of how we act is setting an example for our children?

So finally, Jeff & Janet... thank you for doing all that you do and for taking control of this sad and embarassing situation.

You know what? This was just a suggestion post until some of you started flaming people for voicing their opinions for change.

Yes, there is conflict, so what, but I have personally met some other MOMs that I now KIT w/ outside of TC and I am glad for that, but who decides which is the correct way to go? YOU, other posters? The negativity may be b/c some people are sick of seeing the same people preach to the newbies who don't yet know there are several options to their questions. They do not present their posts as 1 of many choices, but they act as if their way is the RIGHT way and others who do things differently are 'not so good'

Practice what you preach- it's a chat room. So we chat. And there are different ways people chat. I don't want to be Donna Reed or a Stepford wife so a little non-conformity doesn't make me pucker.

Everyone is speaking of the negativity, but the SOURCE of the negativity was the start. If you politely and properly post something against me, I WILL defend myself and my beliefs. If you PM me to be nasty 'in private' I'll call you out too. So the pretty mask was pulled off, that was not the start of this. Everyone jumping in the ring and taking sides is what has made this mole hill such a mountain. The band wagon is an ugly ride too. 1 person w/ 'a can of whoop-ass' doesn't scare me, but an angry mob of holier than thou, self righteous triplet moms does.

Just
My
Opinion.
Hope
This
Helps.
I hope someone out there does create a MOM forum that's 'rated R' or at least a place we can go and not be afraid to be ourselves. I get enough G rated TV here. Yes, my kids watch TV. GASP.

Thank you for your honest candid opinion. My kids watch TV, too. My 4-year-old even watches PG movies. Bad mom here!
